All the Way Osment

Here at Tweenage, we love Emily Osment, the most adorable part of Hannah Montana. I'm not sure it's fair to say that we've been eagerly anticipating her album, because all we've heard from her so far has been an overproduced Tiny Robot Voice, which does not inspire confidence in her singing ability, but we've definitely been interested. Here's the first peek:

Is it just me, or does she sound like she's doing her best Miley impression? She's way overproduced, but I'm pretty sure at this point that her voice is so weak it requires such overproduction. Which is a shame, but the greater shame is that every tween actor feels the need to record an album (or, conversely, every tween singer feels the need to do some acting) when they are not necessarily any good at it.

Also, the song isn't very good.

And yet, I think I love it, just because I love Emily that much. Oh, Tiny Robot Voice, I am your willing slave!

I like that she bites her nails and plays the air guitar. And I love that she basically describes LA (at least, I think that's what she's describing) as 'a temporary life, a ride that takes you all the way up and all the way down'. I think she's old enough to have tracked the rise and fall of the Olsen twins. SHE KNOWS.

On the minus side... girl has spent way too much time with Miles of Smiles. 'It's time to breakout'? Really? I'm not saying that Miss Cyrus can copyright words or anything, but you have to make your music stand out.

This is similar to my dislike of Justin Bieber. His real name is Alex Lawrence, because he wanted a stage name, blah blah blah, watch Hannah Montana and you'll know his story. BUT OF ALL THE INITIALS TO PICK. HE PICKS JB. As if there wasn't already a prominent band that shares his demographic...

Anyway. I'm rambling.

I love Emily Osment no matter what crap she spits out, too. :)

Okay, it's the wee hours of the morning. In case it wasn't clear, I meant that JBiebs' FANS are in the same demographic as the FANS of the original JB.

Because Justin Bieber is like 12 (actually 15), and the Holy Trinity are Almost 17, 20, and Almost 22.

I know you hate the Jonai. I'm sorry I taught you something about them.

I love Emily Osment and have been dreading/anticipating her album ever since she said she's getting into music. I had high hopes due to her labeling her music as indie/pop/rock and her having amazing taste in music but this? Is so overproduced and definitely your typical tween pop song but somehow I still get this urge to actually check out her album even though I don't like this song just because I adore her. I wish she'd stick to acting because that's her strong suit but it's not like I can change her mind.

Also, have you seen the new Hudgens/Michalka movie Bandslam yet? I know you guys talked about the trailer but it's actually been getting fairly good reviews which surprised me. I'd love to hear what you guys think of it and her performance since I can't be bothered to actually check it out due to my intense hatred for Vanessa Hudgens.

I read a really in-depth study about WHY it bombed at the box office. To summarize, they tried to market it the same way as HSM, when it's really closer to School of Rock.

The alternate title was Will, but producers thought it sounded too indie, so instead of using this incredible Will character who describes high school as "Guantanamo Bay with a lunch period", they find all the clips of Hudgens smiling and sell that. She actually plays a monotone goth girl, and from what I've heard, she does it pretty well.

Anyway. I'll be checking it out tomorrow night... because as much as I think it might be a good movie, I can't bear to give Baby V anything more than Cheap Ticket Tuesday.
